AFA1000 Fume Cupboard Airflow Monitor
The AFA1000 is a highly versatile, microprocessor-controlled airflow monitors for ducted fume cupboards, available in both constant volume and variable air volume (VAV) configurations. They deliver precise, real-time face velocity monitoring to ensure safe operating conditions and full compliance with BS EN 14175.
In VAV setups, the motitors function as an intelligent controller, modulating airflow in direct response to sash position. By controlling a motorised damper or signalling a variable-speed extract fan, they maintain a constant face velocity while adjusting the air volume in real time. This minimises energy consumption, particularly HVAC load, when the sash is closed or partially open, offering substantial savings on running costs.
VAV systems are especially effective in laboratories where multiple fume cupboards share a common extract system. By dynamically regulating airflow at each unit, the system ensures that overall extract capacity is balanced and efficient, without over-extracting from unoccupied cupboards.
The AFA1000 features a clear digital display, configurable alarm thresholds, and high-visibility LED and audible alarms for unsafe airflow conditions. AFA500 LEV Airflow Monitor
The AFA500 is a compact, microprocessor-based airflow monitor designed for use on local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems such as canopy hoods, extraction arms, and process enclosures. It provides continuous real-time monitoring of duct velocity or pressure differential, with programmable alarm thresholds to ensure effective contaminant capture at all times.
Designed in accordance with HSG258 and COSHH regulations, the AFA500 features a high-visibility LED status indicator and integral sounder to alert users instantly to low airflow conditions. The unit accepts input from either a velocity probe or differential pressure sensor and can be configured to suit a wide range of duct sizes and operating conditions.
Battery-Powered LEV Airflow indicator
The Chevron is a compact, self-contained airflow indicator designed specifically for local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems. Battery-powered, it continuously monitors negative static pressure within extract ductwork and provides immediate visual indication of airflow status.
A moving chevron arrow on the front panel confirms that adequate airflow is present. Should pressure drop by more than 20% from the calibrated baseline, the device activates a flashing red ‘X’ along with an LED warning to alert users to insufficient extraction. The unit samples airflow every five seconds and is compliant with HSG258 and COSHH monitoring recommendations.
The Chevron is easy to install using supplied straps or self-tapping screws. It is powered by two standard AA batteries, offering over 12 months of continuous operation without the need for hardwiring or external power.
Chevron is suitable for canopy hoods, localised extraction arms, benchtop enclosures, and other LEV systems requiring a low-cost reliable airflow indication solution.
AFA5000 Room Pressure & Airflow Controller
The AFA5000 is an advanced room pressure and airflow controller designed for laboratories requiring precise environmental control. It continuously monitors and regulates room pressure, airflow rates, and optional parameters such as temperature and humidity, ensuring safe and stable working conditions across the entire laboratory space.
Typically installed in high-containment or energy-sensitive environments, the AFA5000 manages both supply and extract airflow via motorised dampers or variable-speed fan control. It supports a range of control strategies, including pressure tracking, flow tracking, and volumetric offset, to maintain desired pressure differentials between rooms, corridors, and adjacent spaces. This is essential in containment laboratories (e.g. CL3/CL4), cleanrooms, and facilities handling hazardous substances.
